Landmark Group announces massive $1bn global expansion plan with 400 new stores

The retail and hospitality conglomerate aims to open 400 new stores and enhance its e-commerce, supply chain and technology capabilities

Landmark Group has unveiled plans to invest $1 billion for expansion across the Gulf, India and Southeast Asia over the next three years.

The retail and hospitality conglomerate aims to open 400 new stores and enhance its e-commerce, supply chain and technology capabilities.

The expansion will increase the group’s retail presence by 20 per cent by 2028. The company, which reported annual revenue exceeding $7 billion in FY’23-24, will introduce its VIVA brand to Saudi Arabia in 2025 and launch Babyshop in four Indian cities within six months.

“We are deeply committed to serving our customers through our own brand portfolio by offering relevant products and value. Physical stores remain a vital part of the retail experience, and we continue to upgrade store design whilst we invest in e-commerce and in the latest technology and innovation. We believe that this is key to staying relevant to ensure a seamless customer experience, both on and off-line,” Renuka Jagtiani, Chairwoman of Landmark Group, which marks its 50th anniversary this year.

Landmark Group CEO Kabir Lumba reported that online sales are growing at 20 per cent annually.

“To maintain this trajectory, we are committing $1 billion in the next three years towards our physical expansion and upgrading our e-commerce, technology and supply chain capabilities,” he said.

The group operates a $350 million Mega Distribution Centre in Jebel Ali among its 12 million square feet of warehousing capacity.

Through Logistiq, its third-party logistics company launched in 2022, the group manages 20,000 daily shipments across Saudi Arabia and UAE with 800 vehicles.

“Our vision is to build a leading logistics business by developing our end-end supply-chain offering, including freight, warehousing & cross-border delivery solutions; while expanding our coverage across the GCC,” Lumba added.

The group has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and holds membership in the Better Cotton Initiative.

Recent sustainability measures include a textile and furniture takeback programme in the UAE, with plans for GCC-wide expansion.

Landmark Group currently operates 22 brands across 2,200 stores in 17 countries, covering 33 million square feet.

The company employs 53,000 people and runs 12 e-commerce stores, which generate 20 per cent of total sales.
