Retail companies in the UAE are committed to reducing prices during Ramadan, offering discounts between 35 to 75 percent, according to the Ministry of Economy.

It also said retailers are aiming to reduce the number of customer complaints related to higher product prices during the holy month.

However, the number of warnings the ministry sent to retail companies raising prices has decreased by 30% during the first week of Ramadan, when compared to last year.

In addition, the ministry has not recorded any pricing violations during a consumer protection monitoring tour in Al Wahda Mall, Abu Dhabi, according to Dr. Hashim Saeed Al Nuaimi, director of the consumer protection department.

He said the discounts offered by retailers have led to higher customer satisfaction.
