Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, has joined forces with lifestyle website The Huntr to launch the Dubai Loves Coffee competition.

The competition aims to unearth the emirate’s best homegrown speciality coffee shops and is part of Brand Dubai’s Proudly from Dubai initiative that seeks to tell the story of innovation shaping Dubai’s emerging business and entrepreneurial culture.

Brand Dubai and The Huntr have released a limited-edition guide to 23 speciality coffee shops in Dubai taking part in the competition.

The outlets featured in the Guide will compete to win a spot at the prestigious 2019 Amsterdam Coffee Festival. Brand Dubai will be flying six winners of the competition to Amsterdam for the event.

Nehal Badri, director of Brand Dubai said: “Coffee is an integral part of the culture and traditions of the UAE and coffee houses are a key feature of Dubai’s cultural and tourist attractions. In many ways, the city’s coffee houses also highlight the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit of the city. This competition promises to capture the unique innovation and creativity that is driving Dubai’s lifestyle business landscape.”

Holly Williams-Lloyd, founder of The Huntr added: “We are delighted to partner with Brand Dubai to launch a competition that will showcase the best of Dubai’s speciality coffee houses to the world… Dubai has become home to many home-grown coffee businesses that have created a uniquely local coffee experience that attracts countless tourists and residents.

“By recognising excellence and fostering the growth of new coffee concepts, we have an opportunity to turn Dubai into a prominent spot on the worldwide coffee map.”

The guide for the competition is available for use and download from January 10-20. Holders of the guide can unlock a special Coffee Tasting Menu at each of the outlets featured in the guide, which will include an example of a milk-based coffee of their choice and the café’s signature drink for AED15.

The guide also explains the voting process and includes the online link to vote.

The winners of the competition will be announced on January 24.
