The Dubai based DJ, who has landed a deal with the second largest recording conglomerate in the world, said: “I’m extremely proud that it was Sony Music International who decided to sign me up and I really look forward to developing my career in the music industry further in the years to come.

“With the support of Sony Music International I will be able to cement my footing in my chosen career, not just in this region but also at an international level.

“I’m proud to be representing Dubai on the international music scene as after 10 years living here, I really do see it as home and have an affiliation with the city, country and its residents.”

Dion has helped turn Dubai into a global DJ and clubbing destination, transforming the Peppermint Club into Dubai’s only super club.

He has been credited with being one of the few that has changed the Dubai music and nightclub scene into what it is today.

Currently he is the resident DJ at Neo while he is also behind the start of some of Dubai’s favourite venues including 360, The Apartment, Blush and Barasti Beach bar.

Thomas Martenot, chief of projects, A&R Sony Music International, said: “When I first heard Dion Mavath’s productions, I was immediately conquered. Upon meeting him, I was amazed by his talent, cool-headedness and professionalism.

“I’m very proud to announce that Sony Music is signing him for a multi-album deal and will be developing his music and image on a worldwide scale.”

As part of the contract, Dion will be supported by Sony in all matters relating to marketing, distribution and publicity on a worldwide scale, including continuous online support and a monthly meeting at Sony’s headquarters in Paris.

As well as the record contract, Dion will also receive support from Sony Music International in creating music videos for regional and international release, the first one to begin production next month in Dubai.
