Bollywood heaved a sigh of relief when superstar Shah Rukh Khan was discharged from a hospital in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Khan was rushed to KD Hospital in the city following the Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Tuesday, where his team Kolkata Knight Riders made it to the finals after beating Sun Risers Hyderabad in the first Qualifiers.
The 58-year-old Khan, who delivered three mega-hits last year – Pathaan, Jawaan and Dunki – and is a much-beloved figure in the UAE, was seen celebrating wildly with Kolkata players after the match in searing heat, and also took a lap of victory with the team.
All the exertion took a toll on Khan who was rushed to the hospital, where he received treatment for severe dehydration.
News agency IANS had reported that the actor was “suffering from dehydration amid a high temperature of 45-degree Celcius in Ahmedabad. He is under medical observation although his health is stable. Security has been tightened around the hospital.”
Knight Riders won the match by eight wickets with more than six overs to spare. They will take on the winner of the match between Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals in the final scheduled to take place in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, 26 May, where the conditions are expected to be more humid and but less hot than Ahmedabad.
