Saudi Arabia has launched a new TV programme intended to deter citizens from engaging in terrorism.
‘Security of the Kingdom’ is expected to discuss Saudi security issues and cultivate patriotism.
“The programme will do this by initially concentrating on children in kindergarten and teach them to love their own country,” the program host, Mohsin Shaikh Al Hassan, was quoted as saying by Arab News.
It would also aim to counter strategies used by terrorist groups such as ISIL in recruiting young members.
“These groups recruit innocent kids through the social media like Facebook and Twitter or through WhatsApp. Step by step, these children are being brainwashed and innocently absorb terrorist ideas,” Al Hassan said.
The show would eventually address also students in high school, college and university.
It would be sponsored by various groups including businessmen, philanthropists and educators.
The programme is scheduled to go to air on Tabah Channel during the first week of September. It would be broadcast for 45-60 minutes weekly.
