The Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Turki Al Shiekh, has revealed details of a significant meeting with world-renowned composer Hans Zimmer, exploring multiple cultural and musical initiatives.

During the discussion, several ambitious projects were proposed, including a potential re-arrangement of the Saudi national anthem using diverse musical instruments.

Zimmer was also presented with the concept of composing an original piece titled Arabia, which would celebrate the nation’s cultural heritage.

The meeting additionally explored plans for a large-scale musical concert to be hosted during the Riyadh Season in forthcoming years.

Another significant proposal involved Zimmer potentially composing the score for the historical film The Battle of Yarmouk, which chronicles the story of Khalid bin Al-Walid.

Al Shiekh expressed optimism about finalising agreements on these projects and noted Zimmer’s enthusiasm for Saudi Arabia.

The composer reportedly expressed a desire to return to the Kingdom with his family and friends to further explore its heritage.
