Gault&Millau UAE has announced the date of its first Gala and guide release.
The fine-dining food critique brand will reveal its first ratings on Tuesday June 14, 2022 at Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah.
Those in attendance at the private, limited-capacity industry event will also be the first to get their hands on the inaugural edition of the prestigious Gault&Millau UAE 2022 guide.
During the much-anticipated, landmark event for the region’s gastronomy scene, some of Dubai’s top chefs will create a specially curated five-course tasting menu, featuring dishes representing the hospitality group’s very best restaurants.
The evening is a culmination of the brand’s closely guarded, anonymous investigations of the UAE’s best restaurants. As well as the first ‘toque’ ratings being announced, there will also be awards for individuals and restaurants from across the UAE’s culinary quarters.
Tickets for the event are limited. For further details and ticket prices, email gala@gaultmillauae.com.
Gault&Millau UAE has been hailed as a ‘pivotal moment’ for the region’s F&B scene.
The brand’s first event was held earlier in April at Burj Al Arab’s Uma Bar. On the evening, some of the UAE’s most respected chefs, restaurateurs and hospitality leaders heard from ITP Media Group CEO Ali Akawi about why the time is right for Gault&Millau to enter the region.
There were also speeches from Jumeirah Group CEO José Silva, as well as Gault&Millau titans, global director of guides Marc Esquerré and ‘immortal of French cuisine’ Marc Veyrat.
Veyrat, the first and only chef to receive a 20 out of 20 score in a Gault&Millau guide, said: “Gault&Millau likes youth and creativity. It likes young and exceptional chefs. Gault&Millau is a phenomenon, because it is at the source of this youth, much more than other culinary guides.
“Here in Dubai, it seems you are experiencing what I did 20 years ago in France, with the creation of nouvelle cuisine. I am therefore pleased to be here as an ambassador for Gault&Millau.
“You have a unique chance with Gault&Millau. You have an exceptional team in Europe who look after the brand, and also here in Dubai, with Mr Ali Akawi promoting your talent.
“Listen carefully, because it is very important. If you want the media and the critics to be informed of what you do, start with Gault&Millau, because it is constantly looking for young talents who will become famous, and it will discover them before the rest.”
