‘Friends’ couch to be displayed at Burj Khalifa – report

The replica of the famous couch will appear around the world to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary

A replica of the famous Central Perk orange couch from the iconic American TV show Friends will be displayed at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai as part of global celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary since the show first aired, according to a media report in the US.

The sitcom will celebrate the milestone on September 22 and 30 replicas of the famous couch will be put on display at famous locations around the world, from the Grand Canyon and the Empire State Building to Stonehenge and the Eiffel Tower, according to a report by the USA Today newspaper.

The show, which starred stared Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, ran for 236 episodes across 10 seasons on the NBC network and recounted the lives of six friends living in Manhattan.

According to the report, the list of global locations where the replica couches will appear will include the Empire State Building in New York, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Maggie Daley Park in Chicago, Willis Tower in Chicago, The London Eye, Abbey Road in London, the Venice International Film Festival in Italy, Stonehenge, Ross Fountain in Edinburgh, Cardiff Castle in Wales, Triton Fountain in Rome, the Royal Palace in Madrid and the Sony Center in Berlin.

Other global locations will include the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Comic-Con Africa in Johannesburg and landmarks in Colombia, Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.
