Arabian Business Awards set to debut in London

The Arabian Business London Awards on Friday will honour individuals from a variety of sectors from the UK

Around 1.8 billion Muslims are walking the planet – with a median age of just 24 years – and their spending power is well over $2 trillion.

This is also a fast-growing sector, with the Muslim population set to reach 3 billion by 2060 and the Islamic economy projected to reach $3 trillion by 2021.

London is the engine for much of Europe’s Islamic economy, with several start-ups launched every month in the sought after segments of modest fashion, premium halal food and halal cosmetics.

As a result, the British capital was the obvious choice to stage the very first ever Arabian Business Awards held outside the GCC.

The first issue of Arabian Business magazine was published in Dubai on January 21, 2001, nearly two decades ago. Since then it has gone from strength to strength and is now the biggest business brand in the Middle East, read by millions of people across the region.

For almost two decades, Arabian Business has been hosting awards ceremonies in Dubai, recognising every year incredible success stories from the Arab world.

But, of course, the world has changed – no more so than in the United Kingdom – which is now home to so many people with links to the Arab world and the wider Muslim world. And, as the awards will highlight, many of these people have made a truly outstanding contribution to the British economy and society.

The Arabian Business London Awards will honour individuals from a variety of sectors including business, media, sports, culture and philanthropy.

The event sponsors include exclusive banking partner Barclays, event planner Grosvenor Capital, social media partner TINT and the venue for the awards will be 8, Northumberland Avenue, in central London.

The prestigious event will also include a welcome speech by BBC broadcaster Andrew Neil.
