Well-known Dubai influencer Alex Hirschi – better known as ‘Supercar Blondie’ – has pulled off Dubai’s most spectacular ski stunt by towing a professional skier behind a Mazda and propelling him into the air.

The event – which was spearheaded by ITP Live with the support of Mazda and Continental Tires – took place at Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates.

The stunt began with Hirschi towing Emirati pro skier Hassan Alfardan to the top of Ski Dubai’s slopes in a snow-tyre equipped Mazda CX-9 SUV, fitted with Continental Tires’ specially-made snow tyres.

As Hirschi drove to the bottom of the slope, Alfardan hit a jump and was propelled high enough to clear the SUV.

“We wanted to come up with an idea that would showcase just how innovative and cool Dubai is,” she said. “After seeing the ‘Jetman flying next to the Emirates A380’ student, we thought it would be possible to come up with another epic idea using an iconic location in the city.”

Hirschi added that the student marks “the first time anyone has used a car as an alternative to the ski lift, pulling a pro-skier on a row rope behind the car all the way up the piste.”

Alfardan, 19, said that he was up for the challenge.

“I love adventure sports and this idea seems to cool to me that I didn’t hesitate for a second before saying yes,” he said.

It took Hirshci and ITP Live an entire year to obtain the required permissions and to bring together key partners such as Mall of the Emirates, Mazda UAE and Continental Tires, who transported the snow tyres from Germany on a private plane.

Galadari Automobiles, the sole distributor of Mazda in the UAE, were the first partners to join in the plan.

“Following the trends of today we were looking for fresh new ideas to reach and engage with our audience in a whole new way,” said Galadari Automobiles general manager Axel Dreyer. “We are thrilled to work with Supercar Blondie and support her ‘out of the box’ brave concept.”
