Former National editor-in-chief joins Asda’a Burson-Marsteller

Seasoned Middle East journalist and PR Hassan Fattah hired as managing director

PR agency ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller has hired Hassan Fattah, the former editor-in-chief of The National newspaper.

PR agency ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller has hired Hassan Fattah, the former editor-in-chief of The National newspaper and a partner at Brunswick Group, as managing director, it announced on Sunday.

Fattah is to provide senior counsel to regional corporate and government clients, and help drive growth and new business for the firm in the GCC and Middle East.

Fattah was a partner with Brunswick Group from 2014 to 2017 and director of communications at GEMS Education before that.

As a journalist, he covered the Middle East for some of the world’s most prominent newspapers, including a long stint as Middle East correspondent for The New York Times.

In 2007, he helped launch Abu Dhabi-based English language daily The National, and served as editor-in-chief of the newspaper between 2009 and 2013. 

He holds a B.S. in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a Masters in Science from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, and is fluent in Arabic and English.
