Makeen and Rolls Royce signs MoU for high-speed engine manufacturing in Saudi Arabia

The partnership also aims to provide local lifetime product support

Saudi Engines Manufacturing Company (Makeen), and Rolls-Royce’s Power Systems business unit with it’s world-leading product and solution brand mtu signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to manufacture high speed engines under the “mtu” brand in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This partnership also aims to provide local lifetime product support.

The MoU was signed by Abdullah Alghamdi, CEO, Saudi Engines Manufacturing Company (Makeen), Paul Roeck – Director Sales Governmental, License & Industrial Cooperation, Rolls-Royce Power Systems and Sven Sonnenberg, Managing Director of Rolls-Royce Power System’s Middle East subsidiary.

In attendance for the signing were Gasem Al-Maimani, Deputy Governor of Defense Industry at GAMI; Mohammad Al Shammary, Makeen Chairman; Sulaiman Ababtain, Aramco Senior Vice President; and Ahmad Kelantan, Vice President, Sales & Business Development, Makeen.

The mtu high speed engines serve in numerous marine and land applications such as Naval, Oil and Gas, Power Generation, Industrial Equipment, and more.

This collaboration will address the significant demand for high-speed engines required in the Kingdom’s offshore activities in addition to the numerous applications of off-grid generators required across the nation’s numerous industries.

Job creation, GDP growth, local supply chain development are also key benefits to be achieved with this collaboration.
