UAE billionaire Rizwan Sajan will spend $30 million (AED110m) on his son’s wedding, which will be held over four days on a cruise in the Mediterranean.

The founder of Danube Group is placed eighth on Arabian Business’s list of 50 richest Indians in the GCC, with a net value of $2 billion (AED7.34bn).

Adel Sajan, group director, will tie the knot with Sana Khan, former beauty queen, artist and writer, on the cruise with the wedding theme adapted from Bollywood movie “Dil Dhadakne Do” from April 6th to 9th.

The 1,100 guest-list of the rich and famous personalities from India and the UAE include Bollywood stars such as Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Gauhar Khan, and music directors Meet Bros and Vishal-Shekhar. Indian rapper Badshaah will be performing on the cruise. Another top Indian rap artist, Yo Yo Honey Singh, performed at the couple’s engagement ceremony in April 2016.

“The wedding of my only son Adel is by far the most awaited event of my life and words cannot express the joy I feel,” Sajan told Arabian Business.

“My wife Sameera and I are eager to welcome the lovely Sana in our family and look forward to extending a long and joyful relationship with the entire Khan family.”

Sajan said Costa Fascinosa, the cruise ship where the wedding is taking place, will put on the colours and charms of the Indian traditions, with every detail meticulously taken care of.

According to the wedding itinerary, guests will board the Costa cruise at Barcelona and travel on a four-day European excursion across Marseilles, Cannes and Savona.

Themes for guests includes “Girls like to Swing” which will have a retro revival dress code on April 6th, “Gallan Goodiyaan” [sweet talks] will have an ethnic regal dress code on April 7th and “Pehi Baar” [first time] will have an Indian traditional dress code on April 8th – the day of the wedding.

In November 2015, Indian media reported UAE-based billionaire Ravi Pillai spent close to AED30 million ($8.1m) on his daughter Dr Arathi Ravi Pillai’s wedding at the Asramam grounds in Kollam, Kerala, India.
