A total of 3,000 police officers will secure Dubai’s New Year celebrations taking place in 25 sites featuring fireworks and light shows across the city.
Sponsored by property developer Emaar, the fireworks will begin at 11:57pm on Tuesday and continue for 5 minutes, Dubai Police announced in a press conference on Sunday.
Authorities called on the public to adhere to traffic instructions to avoid crowds, contact Dubai Police on 999 for urgent reports or 901 for non-emergency reports and walk to sites where policemen are present.
Several supply camps will be provided in Downtown Dubai for special services for lost and found, first aid, logistical support and visitor guidance.
Around 70 firefighting vehicles, 80 paramedics and 15 ambulance vehicles will be deployed at the celebrations site to ensure safety.Those who wish to enjoy the fireworks in Downtown Dubai will need to be present in the area before 4pm when the Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will close.The Financial Centre Street and Sukuk Street will be closed from 6pm, Al Asayel Street (from Oud Maitha Street to Al Maidan Street) will be closed from 4pm, and Al Saada Street will be closed between 6pm and 8pm.The Burj Khalifa metro station will be closed at 10:00pm until 6am, but designated pedestrian crossing lines will be provided on Sheikh Zayed Road near Burj Khalifa Metro Station.
Moreover, 210 buses will be available to transport visitors from the celebrations area to metro stations, whereby metro link buses at Rashidiya, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta, Burj Khalifa, Abu Hail and Etisalat Stations will be in service from 5am to 1:10am of the following day.
