Ministry and federal authority staff in the UAE will be given a holiday on Sunday, November 18 to mark the Prophet’s Birthday (PBUH) birthday.
The occasion had been expected to fall on Tuesday, November 20.
It is one of a series of important dates in the country.
Commemoration Day, which is also commonly known as Martyrs’ Day, will be held closely after on Friday, November 30.
It was first made an annual public holiday by President Sheikh Khalifa in 2015 to honour Emiratis who died while serving their country.
Another important happening in the UAE’s calendar this year is the much celebrated National Day. It is held on December 2 every year to mark the unification of the seven Emirates. This year will be the country’s 47th anniversary.
As it falls on a Sunday, it is likely to provide a long weekend for both the public and private sector.
