Abu Dhabi municipality calls for more pride in the UAE flag

Call follows an inspection campaign in Al Shahama where officials noted significant numbers of damaged UAE flags hoisted

Abu Dhabi City Municipality has called on residents and businesses to take pride in the UAE flag and replace damaged flags flying in the emirate.

The call follows an inspection campaign in Al Shahama where the municipality noted significant numbers of damaged UAE flags hoisted on roofs of several houses, ranches and farms “that negatively affects the civilized appearance of the city”.

While it stressed the importance of upholding the high national values and symbolic implications of the UAE flag by keeping it flying, the municipality also called for replacing damaged flags, or those with fading colours affected by wind, dust and natural elements.

“The protection of the UAE flag and is the responsibility of each, and it is a true manifestation of patriotism and loyalty to the nation. The Municipality, therefore, makes every effort in cooperation with all community members to protect the symbol of the nation and keep it in the best and most elegant image,” a statement said.

The Municipality added that it periodically checks and assesses all the flags flying across the emirate.
