UAE Ministry of Health provides updates on number of cases in the UAE, 195million PCR tests conducted

The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority will convene for a special Covid-19 briefing on Sunday.

The authority announced it will brief UAE media on the state of coronavirus at 5pm on Sunday, November 6.

The first case of coronavirus in the UAE was detected on 29 January 2020, and the first two deaths confirmed on March 20 2020.

Less than a week later, on March 26, the UAE effectively shut its borders, suspending all inbound and outbound travel, and the first “lockdown” began a week later.

In September it was announced that the UAE would lift mask-wearing rules. Face mask rules had been in effect for more than two-and-a-half-years.

More than 195 million PCR tests have been conducted in the UAE so far.
