Dubai is set to host a major event on the healthcare industry – Healthcare Future Summit (HFS) – one of the most important scientific gatherings in the world next week, amid the sector posting one of the fast paced growth periods in the last four years to reach a $10 trillion industry.

About 1700 health professionals, including 114 speakers from more than 40 countries, are expected to participate in the event, slated to be held on November 12-13.

HFS 2022 is to serve as a global platform for knowledge and innovation.

It also serves as an interactive platform for decision-makers, planners, specialists, and healthcare entrepreneurs from both the public and private sectors.

The summit, with the theme ‘Bringing healthcare communities together’, is supported by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Healthcare innovation and technology, pharma in healthcare, post-pandemic lifestyle journey and startups and healthcare disruptions will be among the focus topics to be discussed at the summit.

Dr. Ramadan Alblooshi, acting director of public health protection department at DHA said the summit would provide an opportunity for all participants to form new business partnerships and investments, and develop a shared vision for the future of healthcare.

Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, executive chairman of HFS and chairman of INDEX Holding, said although employment in the healthcare and social work sectors have increased by 42 percent since 2000, there was need for further scaling up in these sectors because more than 1 billion people were expected to reach the age of 70 and above by 2050.

“We need to make sure that people are cared for in the future,” he said.

The healthcare sector is one of the world’s fastest-growing industries currently, reaching $10 trillion from approximately $8.45 trillion in 2018, on the back of advances in technology and scientific research.
