Dr Azad Moopen, founder chairman and managing director of Aster DM Healthcare, has become one of the first Indians residing in the UAE to be awarded a 10-year visa by authorities.
The award, which also included Moopen’s wife Naseera Azad, follows the UAE government’s announcement to award long-term residency visas to entrepreneurs, investors and professionals.
The 10-year visas are part of a package of economic reforms, which also included 100 percent foreign ownership of companies in some sectors, and a more recent permanent residency programme announced several weeks ago.
“It is a privilege to receive the long-term visa as an acknowledgement of our efforts in the business front in UAE focusing on the healthcare sector of the country. This gesture reinforces our commitment to UAE with more projects under Aster and Medcare,” said Moopen.
“We thank His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Government of UAE for this visionary initiative and assure that we will be living up to HH’s expectation,” he added.
Starting from a single clinic in Dubai in 1987, Aster DM Healthcare has emerged as a leading integrated healthcare provider network with 24 hospitals, 116 clinics and 219 pharmacies, a major part of which is in the UAE.
Last week, Danube Group founder and chairman Rizwan Sajan was among the first foreign nationals to receive a 10-year UAE residence visa.
Sajan, who came to the UAE in 1991, received his 10-year visa from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.
