Dubai’s Gems signs former UN chief Ban Ki-moon as ambassador

Ban Ki-moon, the former secretary-general of the United Nations, has accepted the ambassadorship for GEMS Education for the Model United Nations (MUN) at GEMS World Academy schools, including GEMS World Academy in Dubai.

The signing ceremony was held between Sunny Varkey, founder and chairman of GEMS Education and Ban Ki-moon, also co-chair of the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens, at an event in Berlin.

The South Korean statesman will hold the position for the next three years, giving students the opportunity to gain valuable insights from one of the world’s most admired leaders.

Dubai-based GEMS Education now owns and operates 49 schools and educates over 124,000 students in the MENA region.
