To be eligible for fee hikes in the emirate, a school must have a rating of “Acceptable” or higher.

UAE school fee hikes

The private education authority has placed a cap of a maximum of five per cent on fee increases and says the increase is provided to allow education establishments offer the highest quality of teaching to pupils in Sharjah.

Private schools will be allowed to increase fees starting in the next academic school year, 2023-2024.

The social media post from SPEA said: “In order to achieve the highest level of quality teaching and learning in the Emirate of Sharjah and in response to the private sector’s needs to enhance resources and work requirements, it has been decided to adopt an annual tuition fee increase in Sharjah private schools of a rate not exceeding five per cent for the academic year 2023-2024, according to the school’s academic evaluation and the country’s inflation rate.

“It should also be noted that schools with a rating below “Acceptable” are not eligible to increase tuition fees.”

Elsewhere in the UAE, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) last week approved a price hike of three per cent for schools in Dubai.
