Some Dubai schools are freezing prices, despite KHDA rules allowing an increase.
The Indian High Group of Schools has sent a letter to parents of pupils enrolled in its schools, informing them of the decision not to increase fees.
The not-for-profit education group operates schools on three campuses in Dubai and teaches the Indian curriculum.
Dubai school fee freeze
It is the third year in a row that the education provider has maintained fees.
The letter sent to parents of Indian High Group of Schools said: “We are — exactly as we did last year — yet again choosing to keep school tuition fees as is this year, maintaining status quo.
“We strongly believe it is imperative to support all our stakeholders in ensuring they have continual access to world-class learning without having to face the added pressure of an increase in tuition fees”.
The group has more than 9,000 enrolled students at campuses in:
- Oud Metha
- Garhoud
- Dubai Silicon Oasis
According to the KHDA, the fee increase has been approved considering various factors including Dubai’s economic situation and the operational costs of private schools.
School fee increases only apply if the institution maintains or increases inspection ratings.
Despite being eligible for a price increase, The Indian High Group of Schools has opted to freeze prices.
It said: “We do believe that you understand the magnanimity and generosity of the board of trustees in remaining steadfast in their support for learners and their parents, in ignoring yet another opportunity to justifiably increase school fees”.
Dubai schools are able to adjust fees dependent on the outcome of inspection ratings from the KHDA.
Price increases can range from 3 to 6 per cent, with higher increases only available for those schools that improve on their ratings.
