More than 6m Saudi students from general education, as well as 1,360,000 students from higher education, and technical and vocational training, will commence the new academic year on Sunday across the regions and governorates of the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Education has initiated its preparations for the school year, collaborating with educational authorities based on a strategic plan.
The objective is to adequately get the schools ready, providing them with the necessary resources and enhancing their readiness to receive students.

The plan also highlights the role of parents and families in motivating their children and ensuring their participation to achieve students’ educational goals.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education has announced the academic calendar for 2023-2024.
The Ministry said the academic calendar for the year 1445 (corresponding to 2023-2024) will include:
- 3 semesters
- 38 academic weeks
- 180 school days
- 60 days of various vacations
- 68 days summer holiday
The academic calendar applies to all stages of public and university education.
The Ministry of Education said semesters will be:
- Semester one: Sunday, August 20, 2023 until Thursday, November 16, 2023
- Semester two: Sunday, November 26, 2023 until Thursday February 22, 2024
- Semester three: Sunday, March 3, 2024 until Monday, June 10, 2024
