The Kuwait Ministry of Education has revealed its plans to contract with 600 male and female teachers from Palestine and Jordan for the upcoming academic year 2023-2024, a report by Al-Qabas said.
The move is part of the authority’s efforts to address the shortage of educational staff in Kuwaiti schools and meet the growing demands for teachers.
As per sources, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Osama Al-Sultan, has forwarded a letter to the administrative sector outlining the requirements for non-Kuwaiti teachers in the next academic year.
The ministry has identified eight specialisations for external contracts: English, French, mathematics, science, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology, for both male and female teachers.

The sources further disclosed that Jordan and Palestine have been specifically chosen as the recruitment countries, the report said adding that the exact number of teachers needed from each specialisation and country has been determined by the Department of Coordination and Follow-up in the public education sector.
The total number of required teachers from Palestine and Jordan amounts to 590, with the possibility of fluctuations based on various factors and existing requests.
The need for the English language was determined for males, 80 teachers, French males only 50, male and female teachers would be required for Physics 60, and 270 for Mathematics, while males teachers are required for each of Science 60, Chemistry 25, Physics 60, Biology 25, and Geology 20 teachers.
To initiate the recruitment process, the Ministry of Education plans to announce the opening of external contracting for educational staff members from Palestine and Jordan for the academic year 2023-2024.
The announcement is pending approval from Undersecretary Osama Al-Sultan and will be published on the official website of the ministry once authorized.
Additionally, the ministry intends to request the cooperation of foreign counterparts to publish the teacher recruitment announcement in two widely circulated daily newspapers in Jordan and Palestine. Furthermore, radio broadcasts will be utilised to reach a wider audience.
The application process will commence upon announcement issuance and will continue until the external contracting committees conduct interviews, the report said.
