Dubai schools can offer remote learning during Ramadan, says the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
Schools will have the option to allow pupils and staff to work from home on Fridays throughout the Holy Month.
The announcement was made by the KHDA on Twitter, following news earlier this week that Dubai government employees will work remotely on Fridays during Ramadan, with 70 percent of them working from home and 30 percent from the office.

The decision was made by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council for the federal government sector.
The KHDA said that in the spirit of togetherness schools and universities will be allowed to switch to remote working on Fridays during Ramadan.
However, it is not a mandatory rule. Schools are encouraged to consult with pupils, staff and parents to make a decision. Head teachers and school management will make the decision on a school-by-school basis following consultation with the school community.
A statement from the KHDA said: “In the spirit of togetherness, a directive from UAE and Dubai governments allows remote working for the public sector on Fridays during Ramadan.
“Schools and universities will consult with their communities to see if distance learning on Fridays is a suitable option for them.”
