Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, attended the launch of a new family-school app called Adheedak (Arabic for Your Assistant).
The initiative aims to establish stability in the school community and have positive impact on the student’s academic, societal and educational performance, state news agency WAM reported.
The app provides parents with a menu of daily options, activities and tasks including setting times for picking up their children, attending parent-teacher meetings, engaging in school cultural and entertainment activities including voluntary works, reading books and family fun activities.
The app also features an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) reader application, QR code and geolocation, WAM said.
It added that the app has been designed to empower educators to take informed decisions that support family-school communication and cooperation.
For parents, it will engage them in diverse school programmes while also improving the learners’ academic attainment and performance.
The initiative was launched at Al Bateen Palace when the UAE royals received a delegation from the Ministry of Education and a group of Emirati families.
They said the new app serves as a communication channel between the family and school.
