Emirates airline tops list of attractive employers for UAE students

Google, Apple, Etihad and Dubai Airports are also considered highly attractive by UAE business students, according to new statistics

Emirates airline is considered the most attractive employer for UAE students, according to new statistics from employer branding firm Universum.

The figures, which stem from a survey of 5,174 students across 44 universities, found the most attractive employers for business students to be Emirates, Google, Apple, Etihad and Dubai Airports.

The top 10 most attractive employers were rounded out by Emaar, Microsoft, Ernst and Young, KPMG and Deloitte.

For STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) students, the top ten attractive employers were Google, Emaar, Microsoft, Apple, Emirates, Masdar, Dubai Airports, IBM, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Etihad.

The statistics also show that 51 percent of UAE students consider a work/life balance an essential career goal, compared to 47 percent who are aiming for stable employment and 39 percent who seek to be entrepreneurial, creative or innovative.

In terms of preferred industries, 19 percent of students said they’d like to work in arts, recreation and entertainment, followed by media and advertising (14 percent), healthcare industries (13 percent) and fashion, accessories and luxury goods (13 percent).

In neighbouring Saudi Arabia, the most attractive employers for business students were found to be Saudi Aramco, Google, Apple, Saudia, Microsoft, Emirates, IKEA, Al Rajhi Bank and Almarai.

For STEM students, the most attractive employers were Saudi Aramco, Google, Microsoft, Apple, Emaar, SABIC, Saudia, Samsung, Schlumberger and IBM.
