German formwork and scaffolding supplier, Hünnebeck, has won a raft of recent contracts on tower projects in Dubai.
These include an award to supply formwork Al Attar Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, which is being built by General Construction, as well as to a five star hotel being built by Arabtec on the Palm Jumeirah.
The company has also picked up work on the US $272 million (AED 1 billion) Palazzo Versace Hotel, also being constructed by Arabtec.
The company attributes its success to its major contract win to supply special circular formwork systems to the Burj Dubai, set to be the world’s tallest tower.
“Based on this, we’ve been able to attract A-class customers,” said Frank Odzewalski, chief executive officer, Hünnebeck.
Hünnebeck set up office in Dubai after its Burj Dubai win, although it had previously worked on projects in the Middle East in the 1980s and 90s.
“We always used to come into the market, do the work and disappear. But now we want to build a presence here. Now we have a foothold in Dubai, we want to expand to Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia,” added Odzewalski.
