Arabtec takes expo job

Arabtec has won a contract worth US $211 million (AED778 million) for the construction of phase two of the National Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi.

Arabtec has won a contract worth US $211 million (AED778 million) for the construction of phase two of the National Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi.

The contract involves the 60,000m
2

extension to the existing hall in addition to two large parking structures totalling 235,000m
2

.

The project is scheduled for completion by August 2008.

Phase one of the centre opened in February and has already hosted 10 major exhibitions.

Once complete, the entire venue will consist of 55,000m
2

of interconnecting exhibition floor space including 12 halls and an 18,000m
2

visitor concourse.

The project has been designed by UK-based architects RMJM, while the consultant is Mace International.
