Oman’s Ministry of Health reported a further 284 new positive cases of coronavirus on Friday, taking the total in the Sultanate to 4,625.
There was also an additional death at the hands of the Covid-19 virus although no details were revealed by the authorities. The death toll in the country currently stands at 19.
The ministry confirmed that, of the new cases, 80 involve Omanis and 204 are expatriates.
It was also announced that a total of 1,350 people have recovered from coronavirus in the country. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Health, said the mortality rate in the Sultanate among patients infected with Covid-19 is 0.4 percent.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Supreme Committee is to be held on Monday which will “monitor the situation and explore options ahead of Eid al Fitr holidays”.
However the minister warned that if gatherings are not moderated during the upcoming Eid holidays, the number of infected cases will increase.
