Preparations continue to host a New Year's Eve fireworks spectacular in Ras Al Khaimah.

Preparations are underway as Ras Al Khaimah is gearing up for another New Year’s Eve fireworks spectacle, despite the threat of rising coronavirus cases across the UAE.

The emirate said on Wednesday that it is aiming to set two new world records for Most Remote Operated Multirotors/Drones Launching Fireworks Simultaneously and the Highest Altitude Multirotor/Drone Firework Display.

Spanning 4.7km, the 12-minute pyrotechnic drone and fireworks performance will include 15,000 fireworks effects, over 130 sea pontoons and a fleet of hundreds of pyrotechnic drones.

Authorities said in a statement that visitors from around the world can take part in the celebration that also features camping sites, live concerts and a wide range of activities taking centre stage ahead of the fireworks display.

Ras Al Khaimah is one of the fastest growing destinations in the region. It was named the Gulf Tourism Capital for both 2020 and 2021 by the Gulf Cooperation Council and set a global benchmark in becoming the first city in the world to secure the Bureau Veritas Safeguard Label and World Travel and Tourism Council’s Safe Travel Stamp, marking a key step in its tourism recovery.

According to Colliers’ MENA Hotels Monthly Market Forecast in August, Ras Al Khaimah’s occupancy is expected to reach 89 percent in 2021, up 27 percent on 2020.
