Dubai Civil Defence chief said crews took 45 minutes to get blaze under control

The massive fire that broke out earlier this morning is under control, Dubai Civil Defence confirmed.

The fire at Dubai Marina’s Zen Tower was first reported at 11am on Sunday morning, with video of the incident showing flames engulfing several of the building’s lower floors.

Dubai Media Office, in an update earlier this morning, confirmed the building was evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.

In a later update, Maj. Gen. Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, director general of Dubai Civil Defence said the fire was brought under control in 45 minutes by Civil Defence teams, who reached the site within six mins of the incident.

He confirmed that there were no injuries as a result of the incident, and praised the Dubai Civil Defence teams who “showed high levels of professionalism amidst dusty conditions that caused poor visibility”.
