Emaar New Year spectacle to be Guinness World Record attempt

The celebratory event will pay tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed

Emaar will attempt to set a Guinness World Record with its New Year’s spectacle “Light Up 2018” in Downtown Dubai on December 31, 2017.

The bid in the celebrations category will celebrate the UAE’s achievements and pay tribute to the nation’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, and further mark the ‘Year of Zayed’ in 2018.

While specific details will be revealed closer to date, Emaar said the festivities will span Downtown Dubai, with Burj Khalifa taking centre stage at the show.

The firm is working closely with government and private sector entities in organising the happening, which will include special viewing decks set up for the public in Burj Park, South Ridge and the Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. A dedicated viewing platform for 100 VIPs will also be arranged.

The ‘Light Up 2018’ celebrations will begin at 5pm, starting with The Dubai Fountain shows and live DJ, and will continue until 1am. Guests are urged to arrive at the venue no later than 6pm.

The event will be broadcast live on televisions around the world and on large screens around Downtown Dubai. The experience can also be watched online at www.mydubainewyear.com.
