UAE announces holiday for Islamic New Year

Holiday will fall on September 21 or 22

Public and private sector holidays for the Islamic New Year holiday will fall on the first day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiritisation announced on Monday, according to state news agency, WAM.

The holiday will either be on September 21 or the 22 following confirmation from the moon sighting council, and will be a paid holiday for all private sector employees in the country, WAM said.
