Where Abu Dhabi's Mubadala is investing its billions

Abu Dhabi-based state investor Mubadala Investment Company has invested $100 billion in the United States, more than 40 percent of its $240 billion portfolio, according to a senior executive.

Deputy CEO Waleed al-Muhairi said the remaining part of the portfolio is almost equally split between the UAE, Europe and Asia.

In comments published by Reuters, he said: “What that tells you is that from our perspective the risk reward equation works in the United States”, adding that the bulk of the investments are direct.

Speaking at a conference in Abu Dhabi, Muhairi said Mubadala has also invested $2 billion in China from its $10 billion UAE China fund and could step up investments.

“China is the UAE’s largest trading partner, it is an important economic relationship for us,” he told Reuters, adding that technology is a particular focus for Mubadala.
