Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai says hosting the World Cup in Qatar is a “historic milestone for Arabs” and expressed his support to the host nation.
He went on to congratulate the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for hosting the Fifa tournament.
The Gulf will be represented by Qatar as well as Saudi Arabia in the tournament, which kicks off on Sunday, November 20.

In a tweet lauding the historic hosting by an Arab country Sheikh Mohammed said: “The hosting of the World Cup is a Qatari achievement and a pride to the GCC nations, as well as a historical milestone for all Arabs.
“We congratulate the Emir and people of Qatar on this global achievement.”
“All the nations and people of the region are concerned with supporting the success of this major global event in our region.
“Our wishes for continuous GCC and Arab successes”.
The Qatar World Cup is on course to generate record revenue for its organiser FIFA, insiders say.
The one-month tournament is on course to top the roughly $5.4bn in revenue that the 2018 World Cup in Russia generated for football’s governing body, a person familiar with the matter said, asking not to be identified discussing confidential information.
