Juventus and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo rang in the New Year with celebrations and activities across Dubai, ranging from a yacht excursion to a helicopter ride around the city.
On his Instagram account, the former Real Madrid footballer – who boasts a following of 149 million on the platform – posted a number of photographs, including one alongside the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
In an earlier post, Ronaldo posted a picture of himself celebrating New Year’s Eve in the shadow of the Burj Al Arab, along with a number of family members and his fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez. So far, the picture has been “liked” over 6.2 million times.
Another picture shows him and Rodriguez aboard a yacht off the coast of Dubai.
Additionally, Ronaldo livestreamed from abroad a helicopter flying above the emirate.
On Thursday, Ronaldo will be among the football personalities in Dubai for the Globe Soccer Awards, where he is nominated to win the Best Player of the Year Award, alongside France internationals and World Cup winners Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann.
Other prominent football personalities in town for the awards include FIFA president Gianni Infantino, France international manager Didier Deschamps, former Brazil and Barcelona star Ronaldinho and French World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi.
