Oman Air announced on Wednesday that it is temporarily suspending all flights to Saudi Arabia as part of measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
“As a result of new travel restrictions, Oman Air will temporarily be suspending all flights between Saudi Arabia and Oman with effect from March 12 until further notice,” the airline said in a statement.
Guests based in Saudi Arabia holding Oman Air flight bookings can contact the airline’s Jeddah office for further information, it added.
Coronavirus cases in Oman currently stand at 18 while there have been 21 infections in Saudi Arabia.
Oman Air said earlier this month that from March 6 it has removed change fees for all tickets purchased until May 31. The waiver applies to all tickets, all fare types and all destinations – for travel through to the end of October.
Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia banned travel to Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Korea, Egypt, Italy and Iran.
Entry to the country for citizens from the nine countries has also been banned as the kingdom tries to bring the spread of coronavirus under control.
