An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit southern Iran on Wednesday night.
According to the Red Crescent Society of Hormozgan Province, teams have been sent to the region to assess possible damage and help people in need, although no immediate casualties have been reported.
A social media posting from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said: “A 5.0 magnitude earthquake on Richter scale is recorded in South of Iran at 23:23 (UAE time), without any effect over the UAE.”
Earlier in the evening, at 10.27pm, a 3.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded in east of harth in Saudi Arabia. Again, the NCM reported there were no effects in the UAE.
