Qatar’s Ministry of Interior made the announcement on Twitter and provided details of rules surrounding entry.

A statement said: “The Ministry of Interior announces that fans will be allowed to enter the State of Qatar starting December 2, 2022 without a match ticket provided that the following conditions are met:

  • “Get a Hayya Card.
  • “Book a hotel reservation.
  • “Pay a fee of QR500.”

Qatar ticketless entry requirements

Visitors wanting to travel to Qatar to enjoy the World Cup atmosphere up close can apply for a Hayya card on the official website.

Demand for hotel accommodation was expected to be highest during the group stages of the tournament. With half of the competing nations expected to be eliminated from the tournament from today onwards it is thought a significant percentage of fans will be leaving the country.

Despite this the host nation is still insisting that ticketless visitors hold a hotel reservation should they wish to enter the country and is encouraging fans to book accommodation here.

Ticketless fans must also pay a QR500 fee to gain access to the country.

The World Cup is expected to bring in more than 1.7m visitors into the country during its one month duration and stadiums have been operating at a 94 per cent capacity in the opening matches.

Although fewer visitors will be in the country as the tournament progresses towards the finals demand for tickets will be higher with semi-finals and the final sure to be sold out.
