Qatar removes PCR test for FIFA World Cup fans

The new rules come into effect from Tuesday, November 1

Qatar has announced that a PCR test will no longer be required for fans entering the country starting Tuesday, November 1.

It is only mandatory for individuals to present the health status through the Ehteraz application before entering health facilities in the country.

The Ministry has emphasised on following standard precautionary measures to reduce risk.

With just over a month left until the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, football fans from all over the world are flying to Qatar during the months of November and December.

Dubai was unveiled as the top city destination for travel to Qatar during the global event on Tuesday, with the city being a popular hub en route for the major football event.

Global bookings to the UAE have increased significantly since the beginning of the year which bookings increasing by 114 percent in September as compared to the previous month, according to Skyscanner.

The wider GCC is also reporting an uplift in travel bookings as part of a halo effect of the FIFA World Cup, according to the Skyscanner report. Bookings to UAE from Brazil is up by 125 percent followed by Austria, Netherlands, US and Poland while bookings from Netherlands to Saudi Arabia is up by 220 percent followed by Germany, France, Italy and UK.
