Kuwait reported 683 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, raising the total number of infections in the country to 33,823.
Ministry of Health spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad also revealed at his daily media briefing that two more people had died from Covid-19, with the death toll increasing to 275 since the outbreak of the pandemic.
New infection cases included 274 Kuwaiti citizens, 130 Indian nationals, 58 from Bangladesh, 51 from Egypt and the rest hailed from various other countries.
Al-Sanad said there are currently 10,260 active cases in the country, with 193 patients receiving treatment in intensive care wards.
He added that a further 345 patients had recovered from the virus and are currently undertaking 14 days of quarantine.
It comes as mosques in Kuwait reopened for prayers after a suspension of more than three months, with visitors adhering to strict health measures.
