Kuwait to monitor Twitter for offensive tweets

Ministry of Interior sends memos to public prosecution over possible offending tweets – report

Kuwait’s state authorities are monitoring Twitter usage in the country for users tweeting on sensitive and banned topics.

A source at the Ministry of Interior told Kuwait Times that officials have sent forward information in the form of memos to the public prosecution seek its opinion about several tweeters who are believed to have violated the law through Twitter.

According to the Kuwait Times report, the charges include insults to the Emiri entity, and those causing break up of relations with sister countries.

Anyone deemed to have violated the law will be sent to the prosecution or arrested based on the prosecution’s opinion.
