Dense fog at Dubai International Airport (DXB) has affected some flight arrival and departure for now.
Dubai Airports, in a statement, said a number of flights have been seriously affected with either cancellations or diversions, while others have been delayed.
“Normal operations at Dubai International have been disrupted this morning due to heavy fog, resulting in 2 flight cancellations, 8 diversions and a number of delays,” a Dubai Airports spokesperson said.
“Dubai Airports is working with airlines, air traffic control, the ground handler and control authorities to minimise inconvenience to our customers. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights with their respective airline or visit www.dubaiairports.ae before heading for the airport.”
In a tweet on Thursday morning, Emirates said: “Fog has affected some flights from Dubai airports.”

“Fog in Dubai in the early morning of 12 January 2017 caused the delay of some Emirates flights arriving and departing at Dubai International airport,” said an Emirates spokesperson.
“Emirates passengers affected by the flight delays will be assisted with their onward connections and rebooking if needed.
“Emirates advises passengers departing or arriving at Dubai international airport during this period, to check their flight status on the Emirates website for the latest information regarding their flights.”
Earlier, the UAE Met Office reported fog over Abu Dhabi Airport, Khalifa City and adjoining areas, Dubai Airport, Al Maktoum Airport and mist over Sharjah Airport.
It warned of fog formation and poor visibility of less than 50 metres over most areas and highways such as Abu Dhabi-Dubai, Abu Dhabi-Al Ain and Abu Dhabi-Al Gheweifat.

The Met office also cautioned of rough sea in the Arabian Gulf with wave height of seven feet offshore.
