The volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Oman reached OR22.96bn by the end of the Q3 2023, according to preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The key investors are the UK, US and UAE.
The sector of extracting oil and gas seized 76.9 percent of total foreign investment, with a total value of OR17.6723m ($45.9bn).
Foreign investment in Oman
The value of foreign investment in the converting industries sector by the end of the third quarter of 2023 reached OR1.4062bn.
The financial intermediation activity came next with OR1.5309bn, while real estate and leasing activities and commercial activities reached OR1.035bn.
Further, foreign direct investment in various sectors stood as follows: electricity and water (OR466.3m), transport, storage and communication (OR361.9m), trade (OR216m), hotel and restaurants (OR111.4m), constructions (OR82.1m) and other activities (OR78.9mn).
As for foreign direct investment from different countries, it reached the following figures:
- UK (OR11.5218bn, constituting 50.1 per cent of total foreign investment)
- USA (OR3.8812bn)
- UAE (OR1.2754bn
- Kuwait (OR922.3m)
- Bahrain (OR732.6m)
- China (OR594.5m)
- Qatar (OR442.3m)
- Netherlands (OR374.7m)
- Switzerland Confederation (OR288.3m)
- India (OR277.8m)
- Others (OR2.6505bn).
