Total lockdown restrictions in Al Ras and Naif have been eased by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. Image: WAM
The decision comes as both areas, in the historic and heavily built-up Deira part of the emirate, recorded no new Covid-19 cases in the last two days.

Restrictions will continue to be enforced between 10pm and 6am, which is in line with the rest of the city.

Intensive preventive measures implemented in the densely populated and commercially active areas of Naif and Al Ras included rigorous sterilisation operations and extensive medical tests – more than 6,000 tests, carried out by specialist teams from Dubai Health Authority, have been carried out among residents in the areas in less than a month.

Essential supplies were provided to residents of the areas during the period of restrictions in collaboration with a large number of volunteers who worked tirelessly to support the community.

A statement from Dubai Media Office, said: “The achievement was the result of the combined efforts of all teams involved in the comprehensive sterilisation programme. Comprehensive monitoring and isolation of suspected cases played a critical role in controlling the spread of the virus.”
