How the world misunderstood the metaverse, according to Megavrse

The world has misunderstood the potential of the metaverse, Megavrse CEO and CBDO say in an interview on the sidelines of the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2024

The concept of the metaverse has captured the imagination of tech enthusiasts and futurists alike, promising a new era of immersive digital experiences. However, according to industry leaders at Megavrse, a pioneering metaverse platform, the world may have misunderstood what the metaverse truly represents.

In an interview on the sidelines of the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2024, Megavrse CEO Mojtaba Asadian acknowledged the scepticism surrounding the metaverse. “Well, we understand their point of view, and they might be right but this is an evolution of the technology and it is always recommended that you understand the trends in the market and you be ready for it,” he said.

Asadian emphasised that the metaverse represents a transition towards Web 3.0, or “the internet of people.”

“We are in a transition from what we call Web 2.0 towards an immersive new version of Web, which is called Web 3.0 or as we would like to call it ‘the internet of people,'” he explained. “So we are in transition to the immersive web and obviously, it will be a different user experience, and user journey.”

Simon Fletcher, Chief Business Development Officer at Megavrse, echoed Asadian’s sentiments, suggesting that the current perception of the metaverse may not align with its true potential.

“Our vision for the metaverse is to be a standard bearer for what the metaverse is, to be a reference. Because I think what people understand to be the metaverse so far is not really fit for purpose,” Fletcher said.

One of the key factors contributing to the misunderstanding, according to Fletcher, is the gap in hardware capabilities. “The demand [for the metaverse] has not necessarily grown because I think people were kind of confused about what the metaverse is and the reality is that there’s also a gap in the hardware,” he admitted.

“The hardware just doesn’t exist right now, not in the way that it needs to, it’s not like an iPhone. You can’t access the metaverse experience on a desktop or on your phone but you can’t really experience it as it should be, as a future technology, with the platform that we have right now.”

However, with the advent of cutting-edge hardware like Apple’s Vision Pro, Fletcher believes the metaverse will finally come into its own. “With the entrance of Apple into this sphere, it’s going to really be a gamechanger,” he said.

As Megavrse positions itself at the forefront of the metaverse revolution, offering hyper-realistic and immersive experiences, the company aims to reshape the world’s understanding of this emerging technology.

By embracing the metaverse as a natural progression of society’s digital evolution, Megavrse hopes to unlock boundless opportunities across commerce, education, sports, entertainment, and government partnerships.
