Expo 2020 Dubai is on track to hit 15 million total visits later this week as the event gears up for its final month of shows.
In a release carried by WAM, Expo 2020 Dubai reported that as of February 21, total visits stood at 14,719,277.
There are now less than 40 days left for the event to run, with a slew of shows lined up. As Expo 2020 nears its end, domestic visits have been increasing, up 128 percent in the past six weeks, while international visitation is up 19 percent.
Expo 2020 Dubai’s rising visitor numbers
Expo 2020 Dubai’s virtual visitation numbers have also climbed, reaching 145m, which the event attributes to the diverse entertainment offered via Live@Expo, the coverage of Expo 2020 Dubai’s Programme for People and Planet, and the live-streaming of the Coldplay concert.
The event had passed the 10 million visit mark in January following a start-studded K-pop concert, while virtual visitation reached 65 million.
Stringent health and safety rules continue to remain a priority even as the pandemic recedes in the UAE.
All Expo visitors aged 18 and above must show either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test result taken within the previous 72 hours, while on-site measures include mask-wearing – indoors and outdoors – for visitors, staff and participants, and PCR testing facilities for country pavilion staff, frontline workers, and entertainers.
