The Arabian Business Leadership Summit took place on Wednesday, drawing the presence of prominent business leaders from the region.
Two such UAE leaders present at the summit were Rizwan Adatia, COGEF Group chairman and Saifi Ismail, Yalla Group Limited President, who spoke about building successful businesses, strengthening each employee and the need for upskilling through technology.
Starting off the panel discussion at the summit, Adatia strongly believes that the younger generation holds the power to unlock “potential leaders.”
“The younger generation possesses remarkable potential and holds the key to driving change in today’s world,” COGEF’s Adatia, said at the summit held at Armani Hotel in Dubai.
Adatia explained that leadership qualities can be found across all age groups, and individuals of all ages have valuable contributions to make.
“By fostering a culture of continuous learning, we empower individuals to reach their full potential,” he explained adding that recognising and leveraging individual strengths and talents is crucial in building a cohesive and high-performing team.
However a key skill, according to Adatia, is embracing and adapting to technology. “This is essential for effective leadership in today’s rapidly evolving world.”
Adatia also explained that a people-centred leader creates a sense of belonging, encourages collaboration, and values the individual strengths of team members, rather than a task-centred leader.
When asked about how employers can do more to create a positive work culture, Adatia said investing in the personal and professional development of team members helps unlock their full potential.
“Acknowledging and celebrating successes creates a positive work environment and boosts morale. A people-centred leadership approach contributes to the overall success and sustainability of the organisation.
Building the right teams
Echoing the same sentiment as Saifi Ismail, Yalla Group Limited President said: “Fostering strong relationships within teams and across departments is crucial for effective team management.”
He added that by providing the right resources, mentorship, and training programs, employees will be able to develop leadership abilities and build cohesive teams.
However, the executive management also has a key role to play.
“By focusing on our own actions as executive management, we aim to cultivate a culture of leadership excellence. We equip young members with the necessary tools and guidance to become exceptional leaders who drive positive change,” Ismail explained adding teamwork is essential for a smooth transition of responsibilities and ensuring leadership continuity and a successful business.
